So glad I saw Van Halen before Sammy Hagar. I've seen Hagar in 79 and a great rock show in his own right. But Van Halen music was written for David Roth. Sammy and Eddie was a new band with a different pop sound.

Man I loved that Album would listen to it every morning heading to high school .. god I miss those days

I took a Greyhound bus across the USA to see this festival. Then, stuck around California for a few yeas. I liked early Halen the best, before dave got all popped out, but still much better than Sammy days 😅

*In case anyone is unaware- this festival bombed, losing $12 million. The same happened the year before, also losing around the same amount.*

So the thing I take away from this is how good the David Lee Roth vocals are, true to the albums. He has been torn apart by critics. He is much-maligned. But here he shines. For those of you who prefer Sammy--you're crazy.

Seems like at minimum the vocals have been messed with. There's at least one point where DLR puts the mic down and we still hear him singing.
